Hi Everyone! It’s hard to believe how time flies…this will be for Abel’s third time doing the Step Up walk! He is now 2 years old and growing quick! Abel has Trisomy 21 and such a happy and handsome little boy. Abel has come so far from his first visits with the Step Up group. Abel has had some challenges, but he has overcome them with a true warrior’s spirit! Abel had open heart surgery when he was just 4 months old, and he has since been told by his cardiologist that everything that needed to happen with this surgery has…that being said his heart is fully recovered (knock on wood) and he is thriving! Abel wakes up happy and he is almost always full of smiles! Abel was 3 weeks early and had underdeveloped lungs as well as atrial ventricular canal defect (AVC) that has since been corrected. Abel has sleep apnea and can snore like a freight train 😀 New things with Abel is that he is now crawling all over the place and he loves to pull himself up. Abel also really enjoys walking (with holding hands to support himself).
The Step-Up Walk means so much to our family because it allows us to celebrate Abel and others like him since they are all so wonderfully unique and special. This walk also means that we get to connect with families that are going through similar situations. This will be our fourth year participating in the walk and I cannot wait to show others how much Abel has grown in just a year. Please feel free to stop us and chat!
Every time I think about Abel and how strong he is I thank God for making me the luckiest mother there could be. I am so grateful for this special little man, and I hope that everyone can see Abel’s love, spirit, heart, and wonderful uniqueness and know that he is the PERFECT little man!
