This will be our 5th year at the Step Up Walk for Abby! A big part of this walk is to raise funds to help our loved ones with Down Syndrome get all the fundamentals they need to grow and be the best they can be (even though they already are)! Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. We are part of “The Lucky Few”. We are building an army of support for her. Please join us whether you want to walk with us or donate to this cause, we thank you so much for helping. The funds go to Down syndrome Innovations of Kansas City where they provide many services, support and resources for people with Down syndrome of all ages and their families.

Updates with Abby since last year: Abby got some glasses to help with the crossing of her eyes. She is talking up a storm! She received Speech and PT over the summer while out of school. We are working on alternating steps on stairs, walking on a balancing beam without assistance and getting more first syllables with her words. She still loves her big brother following him everywhere, singing and dancing (especially to her favorite movies), her new found love for her bunny and imaginative play. She is still very sassy. She has been loving summer with some family camping trips.

She will be starting her second year of Preschool this year with a new teacher.
