Welcome to "Hattie’s Hustlers" page.

We are thrilled to have you join us in celebrating individuals with Down syndrome at this very special event. Your support and fundraising efforts provide therapeutic programs and services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in our community. Down Syndrome Innovations serves over 1,900 families, 22 hospitals, 45 school districts and dozens of early childhood and adult service provider organizations in Kansas and Missouri. "Hattie’s Hustlers" would love to have you walk with us. We appreciate all the support we can get! Together make a difference!

A Special Message From "Hattie’s Hustlers"

-Harriet, "Hattie," Kathleen Beverlin is truly a blessing to all, and our lives simply haven't been the same since she arrived in May of 2021! -To say our world was rocked when, at 12 weeks pregnant, we received the results to the prenatal genetic screening we had done, is an understatement. After many talks with our doctor, we decided that we want to do further testing to know for sure if our sweet baby girl had Down syndrome. We knew it wouldn't change our path forward, but in that very moment, we also knew we wanted to do everything we could to best prepare ourselves for our future. -We received the official prenatal diagnosis of Trisonomy 21, more commonly referred to as Down syndrome, at about 16 weeks pregnant. From there, we spent our time reading anything we could get our hands on about Down syndrome, connecting with others who have loved ones with Down syndrome and/or those expecting a baby just like us, thanks to Down Syndrome Innovations. Thank you to all of you who were and still are a part of the lucky few, supporting us on this journey! -Hattie was born just after 38 weeks: a typical birth and recovery, for both mom and baby, for which we are still very thankful. Since then, we've had numerous appointments with our primary care physician and plenty of specialists (cardiologists, ENTs, audiologists, ophthalmologists, etc.) and countless therapy sessions both in home (thanks to Johnson County Infant Toddler Services) and at Britain Development. Overall, Hattie is a very healthy little girl who is thriving and chasing her milestones just as we expected. And her big sisters (well most anyone who meets her) completely adore her! -We are so excited to be participating in the Step Up for Down Syndrome walk, facilitated by and benefiting Down Syndrome Innovations, for a second year! The walk itself is the morning of Saturday, October 22 in the parking lot at Arrowhead Stadium. The basis of the event is a carnival (rides, slides, bounce houses, etc.) with food and drinks before the short walk around the stadium. -We look forward to celebrating Hattie with you and our new, amazing friends we've met along the way! -Please let Sarah know if you have any questions.
