This is our 13th year participating in the Step Up walk honoring Riley and all those we care for in the Down Syndrome community.
We are so proud of Riley and all of his accomplishments. He is thriving at school this year, growing in independence, and learning life skills. He loves playing soccer and helping to mow the lawn. He is a huge helper around the house and will spontaneously get the vacuum out and start cleaning. He loves to work in the kitchen to help prepare food and clean dishes as well as help with sorting and folding the laundry or whatever activities the family is doing. He loves cheering his brother and sister on, whether at a baseball game or a choir performance.
The DSI has supported us through several rough patches, again, when Riley was having a tough time at school. He has a really hard time communicating, especially when it comes to his emotions. We’ve had several counseling sessions with the DSI through phone calls and emails. The DSI has provided support to Riley’s teacher and school by providing training and making suggestions towards an action plan to help Riley with his struggles. We are so blessed to have the DSI in our community!
We hope you can join us in honoring Riley and supporting the DSI through the Step Up Walk!
