This will be our 6th year at the Step Up Walk for Abby! A big part of this walk is to raise funds to help our loved ones with Down Syndrome get all the fundamentals they need to grow and be the best they can be (even though they already are)! We are part of “The Lucky Few” Family. We are building an army of support for Abby for the Step Up Walk in Kansas City. Please join us whether you want to walk with us or donate to this cause, we thank you so much for helping. The funds go to Down syndrome Innovations of Kansas City where they provide many services, support and resources for people with Down syndrome of all ages and their families.
Recently we took a long road trip to 9 different National Parks. Getting Abby out and about to walk some paths in nature was fun and exciting for her. It took a lot of stamina, but she did ok unless it was super hot! We went tent camping in Grand Canyon, swimming in the Merced River in Yosemite, hiking to see General Sherman (Largest tree by volume on Earth), drove some windy roads around Kings Canyon and Great Basin, traveled in a backpack carrier to see HooDoos at Bryce Canyon and had a photo op of Delicate Arch in the background with brother. Of course, her beloved stuff Bunny went on the trips with us. She continues to chatter away and will be starting Kindergarten soon! She loves to do whatever big brother is doing! She also LOVES swimming and has been doing better with her puddle jumper and exploring more of the pool. She has become a pretty good escape artist; mom and dad have put some security measures in place for this. She likely will be getting a decent haircut soon since she is not a fan of mom brushing her hair.
As always thank you for being a part of Abby’s Army. As we all know very well, it takes a Village!
