Some people say family is built by blood, but our family was built by love. Cru and Addie came into our lives through adoption just one month apart, and although they aren't biological twins, they are twins in every way that matters. They share an unbreakable bond, a love for one another that words can't fully describe, and a journey that has forever changed our hearts.
Both of our sweet twins have Down syndrome. Addie is also deaf and autistic, and every day she faces challenges with incredible resilience and determination. Cru and Addie spend countless hours working alongside their amazing team of therapists, celebrating milestones that many people take for granted. Every new word Cru speaks feels like a victory worth cheering for, and his joyful dance moves remind us to celebrate every step forward. Addie fills every room with her contagious smile, imitates everything she sees with endless curiosity, and gives the kind of hugs that make the whole world stand still. Together, they teach us that progress isn't measured by how fast you move, but by the courage it takes to keep moving forward.
The Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk is more than just a walk to us. It's where we are surrounded by families who truly understand the triumphs, the uncertainties, the tears, and the celebrations that come with loving someone with Down syndrome. It's a place where differences are embraced, milestones of every size are celebrated, and lifelong friendships are formed. No one has to explain their journey because everyone simply understands.
When you support Addie & Cru's Club 42, you're doing more than helping us cross a finish line. You're helping create a world where every individual with Down syndrome is valued, included, and given every opportunity to thrive. You're celebrating two incredible little lives that have already taught us more about strength, joy, perseverance, and unconditional love than we ever thought possible. Thank you for walking beside our family and believing in a future where every extra step—and every extra chromosome—is celebrated.
