WHOOP WHOOP! Another great year for Morty! Mr. 11-year-old hit a milestone this year by graduating elementary school and officially entering into the MIDDLE SCHOOL chapter of his life! WHAT!? How is that possible? His success is due to the community support of family, friends, medical professionals, coworkers, therapists, teachers, paras, Morty’s peer and especially the Down Syndrome Innovations Organization.
Morty met all his academic goals this year advancing in his writing, reading and even memorizing his address and phone number (via song of course :))! He still loves to be social but definitely has tried to find some independence as he gets older. This year he is learning to ride a bike and has enjoyed Karate lessons! You won’t believe how high he can kick his leg! In the warm summer months, it’s a weekly occurrence that he is asking to go to the camper, he loves his lake life!
Morty isn’t scared of haircuts anymore, but he has been asking for the mullet again, we aren’t sure if he is serious! AH!
All the success above is due to the resources made available to us in this community and through Down Syndrome Innovations. We feel comfort in knowing we have them every step of the way to help guide and support us as we navigate this journey with Morty!
